The quarter was first
put into circulation in 1796. There are some valuable
quarters floating around in circulation. It doesn't
hurt to check your pocket change. You just never
know when a collectible quarter might show up.
Quarters make a great
addition to any collection and like all other
coins there are some variations. Modern quarters
are refereed to as clad due to their composition
which is nickel plated copper. All quarters 1964
and earlier are more valuable because of their
silver content which is about 90 percent. Some
modern proof quarters are struck in silver. These
make great collectors items and are usually in
sets.
As with all other American
coins the quarter has quite a few variations.
