An error coin that is
classified as a lamination error will have a small
portion of the coin peeled away from the surface.
It is kind of the opposite of the lamination of
say your driver's license, where a thin a film
of plastic is used to cover the internal parts,
in order to protect them. In this case a small
portion of that external layer has been peeled
away.
This happens when a foreign
substance gets trapped between the coins internal
layers. If you want to add a lamination coin to
your collection, coins that have the entire face
or back missing are worth the most.
