A planchet is a blank
coin that is ready to be stamped by an engraved
die as found in our coin collecting
terminology.
Noticing a blank planchet
is probably the easiest error coin to spot. It
is simply a coin with no detail. They are very
hard to find due to the fact they rarely ever
leave the mint but they do exist and they are
a great addition to any coin collection.
